Nel 1983, il Newport si unisce al Hampshire League, mentre tre anni dopo entra nella Wessex League.
Nel 1990 arriva secondo, venendo cosi promosso nella Southern League Division One.
Bisogna attendere il 2001 per vedere il Port essere promosso in Premier Division, fa una toccata e fuga, venendo retrocessa l'anno successivo.
Nella stagione 2004/05, il club si sposta nell'Isthmian League Division Two, ma nella successiva stagione viene retrocesse, ma grazie al fallimento del Banstead Athletic, il Port si salva.
Avviene anche la riorganizzazione della lega e il Newport, ritorna a disputare la Southern League Division One per la stagione 2006/07.
Nel 2007, il Newport (IOW), organizza un amichevole contro il Portsmouth. Il match segnala il record di spettatori, ben 3,112, i Pompey vincono 7-0.
Nel 2008, il club viene comprato totalmente dal Supporter Club
